The BVI will be getting more flights from Windward Islands Airways International (WINAIR) as the company has listed the Territory as one of the destinations it will be increasing service to.
WINAIR announced recently that it will be increasing the number of flights to St. Kitts, Nevis and Tortola. Additionally the airline announced that it has successfully added three new destinations to the winter 2015/2016 schedule.
In May 2011 WINAIR stopped its BVI service and explained that the decision was taken because of a then restructuring plan that identified routes that were not profitable. Prior to the 2011 halt of service, WINAIR was providing flights from the BVI to both Antigua and St. Maarten.
The airline returned to the BVI on 15 December 2013 and began offering twice daily service between St. Maarten and Tortola.
WINAIR has inter-line agreements with most of the major US carriers flying into St. Maarten, making the transfer of passengers more likely; and operates on the following schedule: SXM-EIS Departs 11:35 AMArrives 12:20, EIS-SXM Departs 12:40 PM Arrives 13:30, SXM-EIS Departs 16:55 PM Arrives 17:40, and EIS-SXM Departs 18:00 PM Arrives 18:50.
