Junior Minister and At Large Representative Hon. Shereen Flax-Charles who was mum following the Premier’s reshuffling agreement broke silence yesterday afternoon to declare that she is embracing this new change.

The announcement by Premier and Minister for Finance Hon. Andrew Fahie on 26 November that he was reshuffling the two Junior Ministerial portfolios caused tongues to wag in the Territory. Speculations surfaced as one of the Junior Ministers Hon. Sharie de Castro was away on official duty and the other Hon. Flax-Charles did not comment.

In finally speaking, the Junior Minister whose tourism hat was swapped for that of Trade and Economic Development announced on Tuesday 27 November in a statement on social media that her main focus is the representation of the people of the Territory. She said, “On 25 February, four thousand and thirty-three voices united as one, giving me the responsibility of fair, honest and just representation as an At-Large member. My duty to the Virgin Islands people transcends an office.”

Hon. Flax-Charles said, “… my love for this country continues to drive me to excel as Junior Minister. I am honoured to have been entrusted with the dynamic portfolio of Trade and Economic Development.”

The Junior Minister further announced that she views her new post with optimism, and is looking forward to commencing her duties.
