Tuesday, April 28 – Detectives of the Major Crime Team are making a special appeal for information following last Thursday night’s attempted murder of a scooter rider on Boobay Drive.
The male victim was travelling on the Boobay Drive toward Flemming Street around 8pm on 23 April when he was attacked by gunmen. Although he was injured as a result of the attack they were not life-threatening.
RVIPF Neighbourhood officer canvassed the area and circulated leaflets the following Friday night as they appealed for information that could help with the investigation and reestablished a sense of calm in the area.
On the same day, Police executed a search warrant on a scooter rental business in the Road Town area and an illegal handgun was found hidden and seized. Three persons were arrested and assisted the Police in the relation to the recovery of the firearm, but all three have since been released.
Police are asking those who were in the Boobay Drive/Flemming Street area at the time of the shooting incident if they saw anything or heard anything to come forward. One little piece of information may be enough to point detectives in the right direction and progress the investigation to a success conclusion while prosecuting those who would so callously put the lives of this community at risk.
Persons with information are invited to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 468-9339. All information will be held in the strictest confidence. A sizeable reward will be paid to anyone who will provide information that could identify the perpetrators of this crime.
