Tuesday, April 28 – Police are following several leads into two recent business robberies; one of a restaurant on Waterfront Drive and the other of grocery store in Long Bush.
Last night, the owner of the Long Bush Superette reported to Police that at closing around 10pm his employee was approached by two masked men, one in possession of a firearm, who took an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register.
Both assailants, who were dressed in all black, then fled on foot toward the Crablot area.
Similarly, just over a week ago, the son of the owner of Le Grand Café was also approached by a lone masked man with a handgun while he was alone in the restaurant’s office in the early hours of April 19. The assailant demanded money, but took instead a Playstation the boy was using at the time along with six games and fled on foot.
The owner was alerted only after the intruder had left the premises.
No injuries were sustained in either case.
Police are appealing to the public for information that could assist in identifying the perpetrators in these incidents. Persons with information can call the Intelligence Unit at 468-9339 or anonymously call the Crimestopper Hotline in Miami at 800-TIPS, 800-8477.
