Minister for Communications and Works, Hon. Mark Vanterpool said that Government is working to get the tenants of the Palm Grove Shopping Center back in business.
The Palm Grove Shopping Center was destroyed by hurricane Irma, but even before the hurricane there were concerns about asbestos on certain parts of the center. The buildings laid in ruins for months until they were finally demolished a few months ago.
In an update during NDP Radio on 1 October Minister Vanterpool assured the vendors that they will soon be back in business, however he said that instead of rebuilding government took the decision to completely demolish the site.
“We were able to remove the Palm Grove building that had become structurally unsound. It has inconvenienced a number of our good tenants in there, but we want them to know that we are going to be working very hard towards getting them back on track and getting a good building back up there — one that would be aesthetically pleasing and one that would be commercially sound. So we are working on that,” Hon. Vanterpool said.
