The Sea Cows Bay Harbour Project is now before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Third District Representative, Hon. Julian Fraser announced during the VIP radio program on 18 March.
Hon. Fraser alluded to the project during his remarks about the Governor’s decision to not have a commission of inquiry into the cruise pier project: “The Sea Cows Bay Harbour Project is now before the Public Accounts Committee where it is expected to receive a proper review and a revelation of the facts so until such time I will withhold all comments on the Governor’s decision on it except to maintain that the premise of the Auditor General was flawed.”
A report on the Sea Cows Bay Harbour Project was presented last year. The report was completed on 27 August, 2014 and laid on the table of the House of Assembly on 11 September, 2014.
The concept of the Sea Cows Bay Harbour Project was introduced to the Government and people of the Third District in 1992. It was expected that the project once completed would run some 2,600 feet from Mark Simmonds Marina on the East Side of the Harbour to the proposed Hannah Reclamation development on the West Side of the Harbour.
The release announced that the Sea Cows Bay Harbour Development project is intended to improve and enhance the economic development of the BVI in general, and of the Third District in particular.
