Manager of the Rock Café and Sam’s Piano Bar, Ms. Sasha Flax announced that some of the Rosewood Little Dix Bay Resort employees will be hired by her company.
In January the management of Little Dix announced that as of May it will be closing for 18 months of renovations; and as such some of its staff will be temporarily unemployed.
Many businesses rose to hire the LDB workers. The most recent hiring announcement came from the Rock Café.
“We will continue to exceed the expectations of our guests. With the upcoming closure of Little Dix Bay, we plan to minimize the impact on the Territory by recruiting some of their best employees,” Ms. Flax disclosed during her presentation at the Business of the Year competition.
BVI Leader and Minister for Finance, Premier Dr. the Hon D. Orlando Smith described as “unfortunate” the proposed extensive closing of Rosewood Little Dix Bay, one of the Caribbean’s most popular and iconic resorts.
“Although it is the right of Rosewood Hotels and Little Dix Bay Hotel’s principals to determine how best to serve their clients, their decision was taken without any consultation with this Government,” Hon. Smith announced.
Further the Premier said that Government will be holding Little Dix Bay accountable for all promises made verbally as well as in writing and to keeping of the deadline for reopening. He also said that as Minister of Tourism, he will personally lead all efforts to navigate and mitigate the impact of this significant development on the entire Territory.
