RVIPF Detectives and Scenes of Crime Officers are currently investigating a report of robbery at Samarkand Jewellery on Main Street in Road Town.
Uniform Officers responded just after 09:40 this morning (Wednesday 10th September) to a call for help from the store. Two masked men were said to have held staff up at gunpoint and then stolen an undisclosed amount of jewellery, just as the staff had opened up for the day and were beginning to fill the display cases.
The offenders made off prior to Police arrival. There were no injuries, although the two members of staff are understandably shaken.
The offenders are described as male, 5’7” – 5’9”. They were completely masked and wearing gloves.
Investigations are continuing in this matter. Police are encouraging persons who may have heard or seen anything suspicious in the Road Town area this morning to contact the Criminal Investigation Unit at 494-3822.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is again encouraging members of the public who know of individuals in possession of guns to report this information confidentially to the Intelligence Unit at 468-9339.
