Virgin Islands students pursuing a degree with the Missouri State University will now have a tuition fee advantage thanks to the agreement that was signed between the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) and the Missouri State University.
The announcement was made at the College 2014 Graduation exercises by both President of the College, Dr. Karl Dawson and Dr. John Groesbeck, Dean of the Robert W. Plaster School of Business of Missouri State University and Keynote Speaker at the 2014 Graduation.
In making the announcement, Dr. Dawson noted that the College affiliation with the Missouri University is one of the longest standing relationship’s H.L.S.C.C has with tertiary institutions.
Dr. Dawson told the gathering: “During this week I will sign an addendum to our Memorandum of Understanding that will result in what goes back to and I like to call the sweetest deal yet in this agreement. Students from the British Virgin Islands will be able to access programs at the Missouri Southern State University School of Business at just slightly above in-State tuition rates, just 10 percent above to be exact….This rate is activated based on a minimum enrolment of 20 students so graduates, tell a friend, it will benefit you.”
Dr. Groesbeck announced that it was his pleasure to relate the exciting tuition news, and noted that the University has been affiliated with the College for 12 years and has more than 60 BVI alumni that hold positions of influence here in the Territory.
“Our University is committed to helping you achieve your dream. I am also here to announce the creation of this new BVI initiative that fully accepts all of the credit from you Associates Degree in Business from the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College to our Bachelors Degree in Business Administration at Missouri Southern State University.”
He stated that as of this Fall the University will also be offering all of its online degree programs with live mentor coaching five days a week at the Paraquita Bay campus: “So what we are offering is a 57 percent discount off of your typical out-of-State rate, very similar to what we pay in the United States for our in-State residents, and when this succeeds then we will be back here talking about our Masters in Accountancy and our Masters in Management and doing the same thing. You can also come to our campus for your regular programs and same rate applies and we will help you to achieve that,” Dr. Groesbeck added.
