Dpp’s Advice Still Being Sought After Man Is Set On Fire


Tuesday, April 8 Police are still seeking advice from the Department of Public Prosecution on charges to be laid against six males ranging in age from 12 to 18 years who allegedly threw flammable liquid on a man sleeping in the parking lot of the old Riteway Supermarket building in Pasea and set him on fire.

In the incident, the victim received first, second and third degree burns to his right leg and foot before he was assisted by Riteway employees in extinguishing the flames.

The six males were identified as suspects shortly after the incident and arrested but were later discharged pending advice from the DPP’s Office since the suspects had to be processed under to the Children and Young Persons Act.

The matter is still under investigation, therefore no further information can be provided at this point.
