Friday, May 30– Works for the landside aspect of the Cruise Pier Expansion Project will now be tackled by Ports and Marina Services Ltd., after signing a $4.9M contract with the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) this afternoon. The contract will cover site enabling and substructure works for the landside development that specifically entails demolition, piling and placement of concrete slabs. According to the Managing Director of the BVIPA Mr. Claude O. Skelton Cline, the contract signing is another major step in meeting project deadlines for the cruise pier development. Regarding the actual landside works, Mr. Cline said that piling is expected to begin next month. Today’s contract signing is in line with the BVI Ports Authority’s vision to create a unique and modern cruise pier facility that delivers a memorable, world-class and environmentally compatible sustainable development. The BVI Ports Authority is responsible for the Territory’s cruise infrastructure and facilitates port calls.
