Caller asks VIP: Why no Questions for Deputy Premier?

A member of the public calling the Virgin Islands Party’s (VIP) Let’s Talk radio program aired on ZBVI Radio on 18 February enquired why the Opposition has allegedly never asked Deputy Premier, and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour, Dr. the Hon. Kedrick Pickering questions in the House of Assembly.

The caller in his query to the panel said: “I realize for the last three years plus, questions were asked by each… You have five Ministers, but you only have questions for four Ministers; and for the last three years you never asked the Deputy Premier who is the Minister for Natural Resources and Labour.”

In response VIP Chairman, and Third District Representative, Hon. Julian Fraser opined this might be a coincidence. He told the caller: “The funny thing is there are four members in the Opposition, and so far as of last sitting every member of the Opposition asked questions and I don’t think…We never compared our notes to the extent that to who, we asked questions or to who we shouldn’t ask questions.”

Hon. Fraser added: “The former Chairman is here and he can attest to this…We may ask each other what questions are you posing so that we don’t duplicate, I think the questions are asked on a need for basis.”
