The BVI’s Women’s Softball Team turned back Dutch St. Maarten 4-3 on Sunday, to win the Anguilla Hit Your 2nd Shot tournament in the Valley, with Kinnesha Powell getting the victory.

The BVI opened the tournament with a 17-2 mauling of hosts Anguilla, before whipping St. Maarten B, 11-1. Rains wiped out Saturday’s games.

The Men’s opening game against Anguilla was cancelled due to a controversial call after a tag up play from second to third, after Devon Bedford was called out for sliding with steel cleats. The call and decision was met with resistance from the BVI management, as the rules had not been discussed regarding the use of cleats prior to the start of the game. The game prematurely ended 0-0 and Saturday’s rescheduled encounter was wiped out by rain.

The BVI lost to St. Maarten 7-4 on Sunday. Anguilla ultimately won the tournament with a win over BVI.
