After relentless pleading for persons to remove their derelict and parked junk from the site of the Baughers Bay Fisherman’s Wharf, Sixth District Representative, Hon. Alvera Maduro-Caines says that she is ready to take matters into her own hands.
While speaking on the 1 October NDP Radio program Hon. Maduro-Caines said that she is ready to move forward with the project and has contracted someone to remove the abominable junk.
“I know I have been on the radio few times asking persons to move certain equipment and trailers and what not from the strip on the Fisherman’s Wharf in Baughers Bay; well I have contracted some persons to start removing that mess from the Wharf proper and on the street because I really need to get in there and get that project moving and I have been asking for months. Some adhered and some didn’t adhere so we are going to start moving the stuff from in that area because we have to get that work done,” the Sixth District Representative announced.
Back in August Hon. Maduro-Caines said that her calls for the items to be removed appeared to have been falling on deaf ears. While speaking in the House of Assembly on 14 August the Sixth District Representative said: “Many seem not to be listening to me or care to listen because I have not seen anything removed from that strip of land.”
At that time she announced, “I am making means to finish the project on the Baughers Bay Fishermans Wharf. I have sent out three notices for persons to remove trailers, old boats, containers from on that strip of land and adjacent to the Fishermans Wharf.”
The Sixth District Representative even threatened to use force to remedy the situation. “Madame Speaker I might have to use some kind of force in order for us to get this project sorted out for us to get this moving. So this is my final warning for those who have containers, old boats, anything on that property please I am asking.”
