“We played last night so my guys were a little tired, so we got off to a very slow start, but thankfully, we were able to pull it together later on in the game,” A’S Coach Hemant Doodnaught told Island Sun Sports, referring to Saturday’s 66-59 victory over the Guns. “Every team has the same goal to win, so we have the same goal—win. The core players, we’ve been together for a while and what I like is the way we maintain composure, whether we’re up or whether we’re down and the leadership especially from Juany (Juan Richards) the Captain and the returning players. It’s really amazing to have the supporting cast.”

Morris Wattley said it was the ‘best game’ of the season from his Stingrays, who trailed 30-26 at the half. “A work in progress, bad start but ended the season great,” he noted. “Even though we lost, it was the best complete game of the year. We didn’t get blown out. Almost every game we have been competitive—down three, four points at the half—second half, we lose by 30, 40, because of not being in shape. We have some guys, 18, 19, never played biddy or junior basketball, and this men’s league is the first time some of them have ever played basketball. They were green—not even a full mango—up against veterans, national team players, and they performed. HLSCC will be a lot better next year.”
