The 26 students that make up the 2016 graduating class of the BVI Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School (SDA SS) were praised for all graduating with grade ones.
During the graduation ceremony held at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College campus on 3 July the Principal of the school, Wade Tobin stated that each of the graduates demonstrated passion for growth.
The Principal described this year’s graduants as vivacious, determined and opinionated. “They have validated their choices of future career goals in the areas of education, the judiciary, the arts and a strong talent to take their places in administrative positions in their future places of employ.”
In presenting the school’s ninth graduating class, Mr. Tobin said: “This class…with unflinching determination helped to raise the required bar of excellence in the standards they have upheld in this institution.”
In his address to the students Premier Dr. the Hon. D. Orlando Smith told the graduates that the Territory is at a point where there is a need to broaden and deepen the economy by creating new sectors.
“I want you to think about what your contributions will be to the Virgin Islands in the next five, ten or even 15 years from now. Within this Territory there are career opportunities, in healthcare, financial services, tourism, information technology, engineering, legal profession, and so much more. I encourage you to take the opportunity afforded to you and develop yourself so you will be able to lead these areas and contribute to the advancement of this Territory,” Premier Smith told the students.
