The RVIPF Major Crime Team is now assigned to conduct investigations into the death of a male found in his hotel room in a Road Town establishment as the unexplained death reported on Tuesday evening is now being investigated as a homicide.
On July 1st at close to 4:30pm, investigating officers responded to the scene where a male was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead. Preliminary investigations were immediately conducted to establish the identity of the male and a possible cause of death.
The male has since been identified as Yeiral Batista Sena, 32, a Dominican Republic citizen. An autopsy is to be performed to determine the actual cause of death.
Major Crime Detectives believe that the victim travelled from St. Thomas and had planned to fly out to the Dominican Republic on July 1st.
Mr. Batista Sena’s family, who resides in St. Thomas, has been informed of the death and the Coroner is being kept updated.
One person was arrested by detectives in relation to the investigation but was later released pending further enquiries.
