The event was staged at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in a setting that boasted regal splendour, and saw many including legislators and community stalwarts lining up to pay tribute to the man of the evening, and Mrs. Edris O’Neal.
During the event numerous speakers including Deputy Premier and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour, Dr. the Hon. D. Orlando Smith and former legislator Omar Hodge made suggestions that Hon. O’Neal ought to be honoured with the naming of something after him.
Premier Dr. the D. Orlando Smith promoted Saturday’s event on his facebook page and described the tribute to Hon. O’Neal as “A Well Deserved Honour.”
“Mr O’Neal did much for this Territory and we are forever grateful for the contributions that he has made…. This is a well deserved honour. Hon. R. T. O’Neal job well done and we say thanks. May God continue to bless you and your family which has supported you steadfastly over the many years,” the Premier said.
Former legislator and Deputy Chief Minister, Hon. Omar Hodge said that the Administration Building should be named after Hon. O’Neal.
