Pirates’ ace Allen “Woodrow” Smith collected his second victory of the 2014 Berth “Big Man” Henley Softball League, when he dealt the Dominicanos their second weekend loss in back to back games in the Berth “Big Man” Henley Softball League.

The Pirates beat the Dominicanos 3-1 on Sunday night. The Pirates had 3 runs, 4 hits, 2 errors and left 5 runners on base. Dominicanos’ lone run, came off 6 hits, 3 errors and they stranded 5.  runners on Yervis Rodriguez took the loss. Pirates’ Rico Garcia was 2-for-2 with a run batted in.

The Dominicanos were coming off being outslugged 12-8 on Saturday night by the Reds, whose runs came off 15 hits. They made 2 errors and left 10 runners on base. The Dominicanos’ 8 runs came off 12 hits, 6 errors and they stranded 7. Jason “Mad” Fonseca who had relief help from Roy “Panhandle” Hill, was credited with the victory. Rodriguez was the losing hurler.

The Reds’ Lloyd Jackson Reds went 4-for-5 with 2 runs batted in and Leon Martin had a 2-for-5 night with a double a home run and a run batted in. Edward Vincent of Dominicanos went 3-for-4 with a triple a home run and 2 runs batted in. Eddy Morales 3-for-3 game as highlighted with a triple.

In women’s play, despite only getting two hits, the Hawks capitalized on 16 walks and six errors to defeated the Elmore Stoutt High School Rams, 16-9. The Hawks committed 7 errors and left 7 runners on base. The Rams’ 9 runs came off 8 hits. They made 6 errors and left 7 runners stranded. Diana Hunte picked up her first win of the season while he loser was Shoniqua Fahie.

The Hawks’ Judith Harrigan tripled in four at bats and had 3 RBIs. The Rams’ Claury Scatliffe had a 2-for-2 game with a double and a run batted in.  Akira Phillip tripled in two at bats and drove in two.

Thea Cooke fired a 2-hitter for her first win of the season and defending champs Pythons went on to shutout the Lady Crushers, 13-0. The Pythons’ 13 runs were from 6 hits. They played errorless ball and left 3 runners on base.

In a losing cause, the Lady Crushers had 2 hits with 7 errors and they stranded 5 base runners. Adina “Sugar Bow;” Nibbs took the loss. The Pythons’ Khyra Powell was the top hitter with two hits in three at bats including a homer. She scored once and had 2 runs batted in.
