NASHEEMA WINS KEENLY CONTESTED SPELLING BEE

SPELLING BEE ISLAND SUN - pic 1Ms. Nasheema Henry of the BVI Seventh-day Adventist Secondary School (BVI SDA) has won this year’s Inter-Secondary School Spelling Bee competition following several keenly contested rounds last night, March 5.  Ms. Henry was also the top scorer in the preliminary round.  She is seen here with the Acting Principal of the BVI SDA School, Ms. Sarahvaughn Coteau and Mr. Charles Crane of the Rotary Club, a sponsor’s for this year’s spelling bee competition.

Mr. Jhaved Jones of the Bregado Flax Educational Centre placed second following a nail biting tie breaker with the Cedar International School.  Mr. Jones is pictured here with the Assistant Principal of the Bregado Flax Educational Centre Secondary Division Mr. Paul Fenty and Mr. Charles Crane.

Acting Chief Education Officer Mrs. Jillian Douglas-Phillips congratulated the students on their achievement and implored them to remember the words learnt and use them as part of their newly found vocabulary.
