On April 2 the community gathered at Fish Bay to celebrate with the Thomas Family as they officially opened the new Clarence Thomas LTD (CTL) super store.
The facility, which began operating in the new location from last December is a large upgrade to the old Pasea Store—with 70,000 square-feet of ample space for the various household offerings of the company.
In his opening message, Managing Director Michael Thomas announced that the expansion is a two-year journey.
“I am very pleased with where we are now, only a few months in our new location…we can tell that it’s going to work,” he said.
Mr. Thomas stated that he hopes the new super-center is an example to locals of what is possible through hard work, and he said that he hopes that the people of the BVI are proud of what is a still a locally owned business.
Premier and Minister for Finance, Dr. the Hon. D. Orlando Smith announced that Clarence Thomas was one of the first stores to carry building products in the Virgin Islands.
“From its early home in Sea Cows Bay to its new home in Fish Bay, Clarence Thomas Limited—‘People’s Company’-has grown in its provision of electrical, plumbing and gardening supplies, home décor, hardware and other home essentials. Moreover, this pioneering business blossomed from employing just three employees as a retail store to a giant rivalling its overseas competitors and now has a combined 45 persons in two locations,” the Premier added.
