Conyers Dill & Pearman has announced the promotion of Jerry Samuel to the role of partner in its British Virgin Islands (BVI) office, effective 1 April 2014. An experienced litigator and Belonger, Jerry joined Conyers in 2008.
“Jerry is an excellent litigator, advising on some of the BVI’s most substantive cases,” said Mark Forte, Head of Litigation & Restructuring in Conyers Dill & Pearman’s BVI office. “With his depth of knowledge and on-the-ground experience, he is a valuable resource for our clients seeking expert counsel on a wide variety of litigation matters.”
“We are pleased to welcome Jerry to the partnership and wish him continued success in his new role,” added Robert Briant, Head of Conyers Dill & Pearman’s BVI office.
Jerry’s practice covers all aspects of commercial and civil litigation, including advising on and representing clients before the Commercial Court in connection with matters related to insolvency, cross-border relief/assistance, contract disputes, urgent interim relief, shareholder disputes, enforcement of judgments, security enforcement and asset tracing. His practice involves working closely with international legal teams on a regular basis on various types of multi-jurisdictional transactions. Internationally recognised for his expertise, Jerry has been named a “leading lawyer” by Legal 500.
“I am grateful for this accomplishment and I am delighted to join the partnership at Conyers,” Jerry Samuel said. “This is an exciting time for our BVI office as we continue to grow and invest in the BVI, while our litigation practice continues to work on some of the jurisdiction’s most complex and demanding cases. I look forward to contributing to this process in my new role as we build on our excellent practice here in the BVI.”
Jerry is an integral member of the BVI office’s Litigation & Restructuring team, which recently continued its Band 1 ranking in Chambers Global. The directory praised the practice and noted its “excellent reputation for handling some of the BVI’s largest and most complex disputes.”
