BVI FEATURED IN TIME MAGAZINE The BVI is one of four Caribbean countries featured in a Global Tribune Report, distributed in the Monday May 7th Atlantic edition of Time Magazine. The Global Tribune team was in the BVI earlier in the year to compile the information and conducted a wide range of interviews with government ministers, as well as public officers and members of the private sector and statutory bodies, among others. The section on the BVI includes feature articles entitled Preserving
Treasures in the Tropics and Regulation attracts Blue Chip
Clients. An extract from the Time Magazine article states: The Caribbean is one of the world's most scenic regions and a vacationer's dream, but it is also bidding for hi-tech industry. Economic growth is expected to accelerate over the medium term, averaging 3.5 percent a year to 2005, according to the International Monetary Fund. A report from the Caribbean Development Bank suggests the region's best prospects lie in the expansion of services. In the British Virgin Islands, Chief Minister Honourable Ralph O'Neal says: "We believe there will be new hotel developments as we open up more beaches. It is difficult to attract capital, but there is room for additional large hotels." This special Report is also available on the worldwide web at www.global-tribune.com/caribbean. The other countries featured in the Report are Grenada, Jamaica and St. Kitts & Nevis. |
