NATURE BOY DEPARTS THIS LIFE
Family and friends of the late Donald Nesbitt Rymer, more
popularly known as Nature Boy, gathered at the Episcopal Church
of St. George the
Martyr in Road Town on the morning of Saturday February 3rd,
to celebrate his life.
Mr. Rymer was born on March 19th, 1928 to parents Marie and Stewart
Rymer of Road Town. He was the sixth of their ten children. He
grew
up in the family of the St. Georges Church, was a member
of the congregation and attended services regularly.
In addition to his religious upbringing, Donald received his
general education at the St. Georges School in Road Town.
He married in February
1974 and although this union produced no children, he cared for
his stepchildren as his own.
As a young man, he was a deck hand on several of the ferries
and cargo boats. He also worked in the Public Works Department
for a period of
time. Later on in life, he took a more entrepreneurial approach
and went into the taxi business. He was a member of the BVI Taxi
Association.
Just before last Christmas, his health started to fail,
but he never complained. At Peebles Hospital, his wife and her
fellow members of the
Methodist Womens League, his sisters, other family and
friends visited him daily. We, who knew Donald well, are confident
of his love, faith
and trust in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Indeed, when asked
how he was doing, in the midst of his suffering, when he still
had the energy to
speak, he would always reply, I am alright, you know.
The late Donald Nature Boy Rymer is survived by his
wife Miriam, stepson Wilmuth Christopher, stepdaughter Una Lake,
sisters - Cynthia
deCastro, Doris George, Gwendolyn Rymer, Margaret Borde and Avis
Hosein, brothers The Rev. Canon Lionel S. Rymer and Arthur Rymer
and aunt Uta Pickering.
His in-laws included Aubrey deCastro, Riisa Rymer, Samuel George
and Dorothy Rymer, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and
friends.
The management of The Island Sun joins in expressing deepest
condolences to the bereaved. |
