LEGISLATORS PASS $14M SUPPLEMENTARY

During a Legislative Council meeting of Thursday 14th December, a motion for Council to approve a supplementary budget amounting to just over $14M was approved after over seven hours in Committee stage. 

The Schedule represented monies to be expended in excess of the amount appropriated in each case by the Appropriation (2000) Act, 1999 (Act No. 4 of 1999) - Recurrent Expenditure amounting to $5,048,062, which includes the sum of $175,602 to replenish the Contingencies Fund, to be a charge against the Consolidated Fund and Capital Expenditure amounting to $9,117,500, which includes the sums of $378,850 from the Disaster Relief Fund and $500,000 from the Transportation Network Improvement Fund to be a charge against the Capital Fund of the territory. In debating the motion, Representative for District 7, Dr. the Hon. Kedrick Pickering said he thought the Honourable Minister of Finance definitely tried to be fair in the distribution of the monies allocated for the various Districts. However, he had one concern.
