Virgin Gorda Fishermen have New and Improved Docking Facilities Minister of Natural Resources and Labour the Honourable Julian Fraser has successfully negotiated an end to a long standing impasse between fishermen on Virgin Gorda and the management of the Little Dix Bay Resort relating to the use of docking facilities on the property. In providing some background, Permanent Secretary Mrs. Sheila Braithwaite noted that fishermen on Virgin Gorda once used a portion of the property in the Little Dix Bay area which is now occupied by the hotel to moor their boats and repair their fishing gear. The fishermen have claimed that when the then developers of the hotel purchased the land in the 1960,s, there was an understanding or a verbal agreement between the fishermen and the prospective owners of Little Dix Bay that the fishermen would be able to use the Yacht Harbour to moor their boats at little or no cost to compensate them for the fact that they were being uprooted. "Over the years, there was some disagreement about validity of the claim, as no written agreement could be found in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour nor at Little Dix Bay itself, Mrs. Brathwaite noted.
