BVI Issues Stamps For Prince William's 18th Birthday

The BVI Postal Administration released on 21 June 2000 a special issue of stamps to commemorate the 18th birthday of Prince William. The issue which is part of an omnibus, is available in two formats: a sheetlet of five stamps as shown here, or four denominations (20c, 40c, 50c, and $1) as single stamps from regular sheets. The sheetlet includes the following denominations: 20c (Prince as an infant at Kensington Palace in February 1983); 40c (as a toddler at Kensington Palace, summer 1984); 50c (during a skiing holiday at Whistler Mountain Resort, British Columbia, Canada, 26 March 1998); 60c (a combination of two photographs - Prince William at the 99th birthday celebration of H.M. The Queen Mother on 4 August 1999, and at the christening of the son of Crown Prince and Princess Pavlos of Greece, 15 April 1999); $1 (combination of two photographs - Prince William at the premiere of the movie "Spice World") 5 December 1997, and at Highgrove, Gloucester 28 July 1999). This sheetlet was designed by Andrew Robinson; printed by the House of Questa in lithography; perforation 14; and CA watermarked.

The stamps and sheetlets are on sale at the General Post Office, and the various branch post offices until 20 December 2000 or until stocks are exhausted. Collectors can obtain sheetlets and first day covers (FDCs) from the Philatelic Bureau, GPO, Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands.
