TWO BVISLANDERS ARRESTED IN GUADELOUPE FOR DRUGS

             Friday, February 2 – 34-year-old Vadley Sylvester and 37-year-old Alfred Lettsome of Tortola, British Virgin Islands sit in a Guadelupian prison after their vessel was intercepted and they were caught in possession of drugs, while returning to the BVI.

            According to reports sent from Guadelupian authorities, on Wednesday, January 24th, a sailing boat was spotted off the Guadelupian coasts in the Caribbean Sea; after official sailing documents could not be presented, the vessel was checked and 52 kilograms of Cocaine and 10 kilograms of Cannabis were discovered.

           According to BVI Police sources, the vessel left the BVI and traveled to St. Vincent where a transshipment of drugs occurred at sea.  Along with the two BVIslanders, Sylvester and Lettsome; 51-year-old Diomedes Coneo Lopez of Columbia residing in Puerto Rico, 38-year-old Anthony Jackson of St. Vincent and 27-year-old Yarsam Beer of Guyana were arrested.  Guadelupian Officials indicated that Coneo Lopez was convicted to 10 years in prison 1987 in the United States of America for his participation in trafficking involving 18.5 tons of Cannabis bound for Finland.  He was also known in Columbia for drug trafficking. Coneo Lopez is believed to responsible for the operation with another South

American, who was onboard the said vessel but left the boat during the delivery of the drugs in order to embark on a ‘go fast’ boat to expedite the transshipment.

            All five men were remanded to prison, pending trial.
