POLICE CONFIRM FIRST MURDER ON VIRGIN GORDA SINCE 1999
On Monday
Police confirmed that 50-year-old Vincent John Connolly of Great Britain was
found murdered early Sunday morning.
Police
responded to a call received on October 29th at 7:45 a.m., when they
were notified that there was a body in the driveway of an apartment building at
Windy Hill, Virgin Gorda.
On arrival,
the body of a Caucasian male, positively identified as 50-year-old Vincent John
Connolly of Great Britain was laying motionless, in what appeared to be a pool
of blood. Dr. Anthony Crentsil, examined the body and pronounced him dead at
8:45 a.m.
Connolly was
reportedly shot several times, circumstances surrounding his death are vague at
this time, however shots were reportedly heard at about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday,
October 28th in the Windy Hill area, where the deceased resided.
Police have
mounted a full investigation into the incident and are urging anyone, especially
residents of Virgin Gorda, to contact the Virgin Gorda Police Station of the
Police Anonymous Hotline number at 1-800-744-8477 with any information they may
have relating to the murder of Connolly.
“We have
always taken pride in our close relationship with the Virgin Gorda community and
we are hopeful that our investigation will be successful.” Mr. Frazer said.
The last
murder in Virgin Gorda occurred on February 16th 1999, when Len
Weeks murdered Zabrina O’Neal in a domestic dispute. Weeks has since been
convicted and sentenced.
