Secretary Glenroy Forbes Retires
Financial
Secretary, Mr. Glenroy Forbes has retired from the BVI Public Service, saying he
has had an enjoyable and sometimes challenging time while serving his country
over the past 32 years.
His
retirement took effect on 31st July, 2005.
Mr. Forbes
became a member of the BVI Public Service in 1986, when was appointed to the
post of Deputy Financial Secretary in the Ministry of Finance.
Commenting
on his tenure, Mr. Forbes says he has had a long, varied, and at times
challenging career in the Public Service. In his own words, “It has been an
experience and a distinct privilege to have been afforded the opportunity to
serve my country in such a capacity. For this I owe a debt of gratitude to my
fellow public servants, the taxpayers of this country, my superiors and
Ministers with whom I have worked.”
After
joining the service in 1986, Mr. Forbes received an acting appointment as
Financial Secretary in 1987, which was subsequently confirmed in 1993.
He was
appointed Crown Counsel in the Attorney General’s Chambers in July 2001, and was
later seconded in December to Harney Westwood and Riegels for one year. Mr.
Forbes returned to his post of Financial Secretary in May 2002 until the time of
retirement in July 2005.
Mrs.
Kharid Fraser, Accountant General has been named to act in the post of Financial
Secretary until further notice.

Mr. Glenroy Forbes holds a Masters of Arts Degree in Economics and a Bachelors
of Arts Degree in Social Sciences; a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of
the Virgin Islands; and most recently in 2001 a Law Degree LLB from the
University of Wales and a Bar Vocational Course from the Inns of Court School of
Law (ICLS).
