Unbeaten Blue Chips, Byrds in Friday night showdown

Neville “Sheep” Smith fired a 2-hitter and fanned 12 as the Blue Chips downed the Latinos 7-1, while the Byrds overpowered the Apaches, setting up a Friday night showdown between unbeaten teams.  Smith, averaging 11 strikeouts per game, helped his cause with 2 hits in 4 at bats, scored once and drove in three. Jamal Allen and Bryon Parsons were 2 for 3 and 2 for 4 respectively with three and one run scored. Parsons also drove in one. Latinos Julio McKelly went 1 for 2 with one run batted in.

Clifford “Cato” Charistipher scattered four hits in the Byrds’ 9-5 win over the Apaches. Bryan “Power” Scatliffe who had relief help from Roy “Panhandle” Hill, took the loss.

Tony “Bone Crusher” Smith was the Byrd’s top hitter, going 2 for 4. He scored once and had 2 RBIs. Sylvester “Bucker” Johnson and Clifton “Tito” Forbes were 1 for 2 and 1 for 3 respectively, with three and two suns scored. Apaches Kyel Rhymer was their leading hitter with a 2 for 3 game. He scored once and drove in one and has hit safely in all three games.

Allen Smith struck out seven as the Pirates beat the Blue Wings 8-2. Raymond “Mahasa” Mercer took the loss. He was relieved by Darwin “Chicken” Scatliffe in the sixth.

Eddie Fahie was 2 for 4—including a 3-run homer in the fourth. He scored twice and had 4 RBIs. Avrey “Boonkie” Percival also went 2 for 4 and scored once. Humphrey Leue had a 2 for 3 game with one scored.

Siv Scatliffe led the Blue Wings with a 2 for 3 game with one run scored. David “Archie” Maduro had a hit in three at bats, scored once and drove in one.
