Chapman wins OECS Under 15 Squash title

Joe Chapman won the Under 15 division of the OECS Jr. Squash Championships held in St. Vincent over the weekend. Chapman defeated St. Lucia’s John-Henry Sweeney 9-0, 9-0, and 9-0.  Chapman qualifies the for the OECS Jr. team that will face such teams as Jamaica, Bermuda and Guyana in the Caribbean Championships in July. 

Keita Cline compete at Drake alternative meet

Sprinter Keita Cline ran 21.75 seconds over 200 meters and 49.0 over 400, in the Drake Relays alternative meet in Minnesota over the weekend. Meanwhile, Eric ‘Shaq’ Mathias was fourth in the Oregon Invitational Discus at the University of Oregon, with a throw of 49.92 meters, (163’9”). The Boise State University Jr. will compete in the Western Athletic Conference Championships this weekend. Elsewhere, Adriana Herbert was fourth in her heat and 19th overall in the Rice Invitational 200 meters with a time of 27.63 seconds.

Volleyball Association playoffs starts on Saturday

Playoff action in the BVI Amateur Volleyball Association league begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Belle Vue Gym.
