IMPROVED INFRASTRUCTURE FOR THE TERRITORY

The BVI government is working diligently to make sure that the BVI's physical infrastructure is strong enough to meet the needs of the territory's fast changing economy. This statement comes from the Chief Minister, Dr. the Hon. D. Orlando Smith in his state of the territory address on 1 July.

He said that the project has under gone revisions, including the  ground-floor layout to accommodate a casualty unit, a diagnostic laboratory, a new pharmacy and a dialysis unit. The completion of the Annex will go a long way towards providing adequate space and much needed beds, and he confirmed that 80 new beds will be added to the Hospital. The Chief Minister said that his government is making a major investment in building up and improving Road Town. Parking lots have been paved to reduce dust and dirt, roads are being improved throughout the territory, and plans are in place for the establishment of a Town Council that will serve to further develop and encourage the beautification of Road Town.
