BVIEC SIGNS CONTRACT WITH
OIL COMPANIES
The BVI Electricity
Corporation (BVIEC) recently signed a two-year contract with Delta Petroleum
Limited and Shell Antilles & Guianas Limited for the supply of oil to the
Company
Signing on behalf of BVIEC
were Chairman of the Board Mrs. Margaret Penn, Vice Chairman Mr. Verlin Crabbe
and Deputy General Manager Mr. Steve Turnbull General Manager Ms. Dentonia
Brewster and Regional Chairman Mr. Nicolas Shorthose signed on behalf of Delta
and Shell respectively.
Mr. Turnbull said that three
tenderers had submitted bids and decisions were made based on the spot market
price of oil for the day. He also noted that “Delta will supply petrol for all
of the Corporation’s vehicles on Tortola and Virgin Gorda and Shell will supply
fuel and lubricating oil for the Corporation’s power stations at Pockwood Pond,
Long Bush and Anegada.”
Noting the significance of
oil as a major component in the operations of the company, Mrs. Penn thanked
Delta and Shell for their interest and association with BVIEC.
