Young Gunz grabs straight set victory in BVI Volleyball Association play

Young Gunz secured a 25-19, 25-23 and 25-15 victory over Jus Pull Up on
Sunday at the Belle Vue Gym, to avenge an opening day straight set loss to
Terminators, in BVI Volleyball Association weekend action at the Belle Vue Gym.
Dion Anslem had 19 points and five digs. Daren Vanterpool added another 13
points. Cedric Smith had Jus Pull Up's top score with 12 points and six kills.
Dwayne "Para" Rubaine said he thought Just Pull Up played well for a new
team trying to find its groove in the league. "I think as the season goes
on, we will improve and win more games," Rubaine said. "But, we need to
work on our defense. Without defense, you can't win any games. You need
defense."
In the other men's game, Turbulence rolled past Raw Power 25-15, 25-23 and
25-21. Oren Hodge led Turbulence with 21 points and five kills. Drexel
Glasgow contributed 16 points and eight kills wile Karl Scatliffe added
another 13 points. Willis Potter and Thomas Richardson had Raw Power's
leading scores with 11 points respectively. Rhennie Phipps added 10 points
with 13 kills.
Erica Smith Penn had a game best 28 points that fired Te-Sito to a 25-21,
25-9 and 25-8 triumph over Raw Power 2K in women's play. Michelle Georges
added 16 points and Lynelle Gumbs finished with 12. Nicole Browne had Raw
Power 2 Ks top score with 10 points.
Geriatrix stopped the HLSCC Stingrays in straight sets 25-13, 25-11 and 25-11.
Pati Romney had 22 points and Jackie Weeks 20, to lead Geriatrix. Diana
Peters and Trislyn Liburd lead the Stingrays with seven points respectively.
