Bank employee arrested for theft

Police are confirming that 22-year-old Kenyatha Augustine of Hannah’s Estate, an employee of a major bank in the Territory has been arrested for theft.

On April 13, 2004, Police received information that funds were removed from different accounts of the said bank without the consent or knowledge of clients.  Police launched an investigation and as a result, Augustine was arrested.

According to the Police Information Officer, Támâra Archibald-Gill, Augustine was charged on 15 counts of Theft on April 14, 2004.  He was later charged on 23 counts of Obtaining Pecuniary Advantage by Deception and an additional 8 counts of theft.  In addition, he was charged for 4 counts of theft and 4 counts of Obtaining Pecuniary Advantage by Deception. 

On April 15, 2004 Augustine appeared before the Magistrate Mr. Dawson on 54 counts of theft and obtaining pecuniary advantage by deception.  He was not required to plead.  He was granted bail in the sum of $15,000.00 with two sureties. 

Augustine was ordered to surrender all travel documents and is to report to Road Town Station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. The case has been adjourned until June 9, 2004.
