Sea Cows Bay Basketball Club launches Jr. league

The Sea Cows Bay Basketball Club launched a Jr. league at Albions Court in Sea Cows Bay on Saturday. Sea Cows Bay’s Y2K whipped the West End Bulldogs 86-47, behind Renaldo Smith’s 29 points. Akeem ‘Chunky’ Titley launched five 3-pointers and finished with 27 points, while McKenzie Baltimore contributed another 15. Andre Stoutt topped West End with 18. Douron Phillips finished with a 15 point 12 board double double. 

Primary Schools Soccer results

St. George’s/Belle Vue Blues and the Cedar Sharks shut out their opponents in last week’s Primary Schools Soccer league play. The Blues blanked AMS Ivan Dawson Reds 4-0, while the Sharks white washed the Caribbean Star Montessori Magic 5-0. The Amicorp Willard Wheatley Wolves trimmed the AMS Ivan Daswon Reds 2-1. Other games were cancelled due to Primary V exams. 

Forfeitures plague weekend Volleyball action

Forfeitures plagued weekend action in the BVI Amateur Volleyball Association league, as Raw Power teams failed to show. The female Raw Power 2K and the men’s Raw Power teams, did not field teams for their respective matches with the Chixs and Young Guns. Raw Power 2 showed however, and pulled off a straight set 26-24, 25-22 and 25-22 victory over Te-Sito. Simone Penn topped Raw Power 2 with 15 points. Celine
Alphonse added 13 points and 10 kills. Tyalia Nibbs, Amadonna Glasgow and Jackie Ladoo had 12 points respectively. Lynelle Gumbs, Erica Smith-Penn, and Michelle Edmundson all scored 12 points respectively for Te-Sito.

Youth team off to Antigua for Leeward Islands meet

Following a second trial meet Saturday, the BVI Amateur Athletic Association selected the following athletes from Virgin Gorda and Tortola for the weekend Leeward Islands Youth Championships in Antigua. Under 11 boys; Donald Lettsome, William Penn, Deron Smith and Kelvin Henley. Girls: Darnetta Robinson, Ayoka Greenaway, Kalisha Todman, Danielle Hodge. U-13: Shanice Hazel, Brittney Wattley, Kanishque Todman, Chantal Malone, Britney Wilson. Boys: Naheem Stevens, Kimani Stevens, Jharal Cotton, Jami Potter, Dion Blyden, Jevonte Croal, Jurmaine St. Rose,
Azim Beazer. U-15 Boys: Jamiel St. Rose, Coy Dore, Mikhial Howe, Michael Butler, Lee Evans Jacobs, Brian Anderson, Tristin Nisbett. Girls: Bianca Dougan, Lana Barry, Kris-Ann Charles, Chantal Farrington, Kimone Hannibal, Angelica Clarke. 

BVI athletes off to weekend competition in St. Croix

The BVI will send 27 athletes and officials to the weekend Ciprianni Phillips
Classic at the Educational Complex track in St. Croix. The delegation, comprised of athletes from the BVI High School, HLSCC and clubs, will compete in junior, senior and masters division events. Several athletes will use the meet as a tune up for next weekend’s Leeward Islands Jr. Track and Field Championships at the A. O. Shirley Recreation Grounds. 

Masters Cricket team set for Leeward Islands Tourney

The BVI will make its inaugural appearance in the Leeward Islands Masters Cricket Tournament in Antigua this weekend. The BVI joins host Antigua and teams from; St. Kitts, Nevis, St. Maarten, Anguilla and St. Croix in the competition. 

Anegada Desert Duel on June 1

The popular BVI Cycling Federation’s Anegada Desert Duel, is set for Sunday, June 1. A ferry is scheduled to depart Road Town at 7 a.m. More details can be obtained from BVI Cycling Federation president David Thomas at 494-2359.
