Lady Braves shut out Angels in weekend double header sweep

Nerieda Skelton's scratch single in the second inning was the only hit

Kathleen Fahie allowed, as BVI Amateur Softball Association defending

champions Lady Braves swept a weekend double header from the Angels. Stacy

Tonge took Friday's loss, while Daphne Frett succumbed on Sunday.

Fahie tossed a one-hitter in Friday's 24-0 shellacking, then scattered

seven hits in Sunday's 21-9 whipping. In her shutout, Fahie went 2 for 4,

scored twice and had two runs batted in. Alicia Lima provided good offense

with 5 RBI's, on a 2 for 3 night while scoring twice.

Pearline Scatliffe finished 2 for 2, scored three and drove in two. Sherna

Payne was 1-1 scored four times and ended with 4 RBI's.

Fahie was 3 for 4 in Sunday's 21-9 win. She also scored once drove in

three. Lima matched Friday's 5 RBI total and also scored three. Kishma

Payne went 3 for 4 with two runs scored and drove in one as the Angels top

hitter. Skelton had a one for two game scored three times with two runs

batted in.

After failing to score in the first three innings, the Crushers got nine

runs but fell short in an 11-9 loss to the Quails. Adina 'Sugar Bowl'

Nibbs got the win, while Athina Maduro took the loss. Thirty minutes after

celebrating a victory over the Expo Chics, several Lady Cougars players

joined the Panthers for a 17-10 victory over the West End Warriors. Wanda

Blyden who had relief help from Dianje Brown, got the win while Sarah

Potter was tagged with the loss.

The Braves rebounded from their opening loss to whip the Blue Chips 14-5

in men's action. Lovel Parker got the win while Jason 'Mad' Fonseca who

got relief assistance from Neville 'Sheep' Smith, suffered the loss. The

Astros had a 14-3 victory over the Blue Wings to improve to 2-0. Aubrey

'Kong' Frett out dueled Darwin 'Chicken' Scatliffe and Raymond 'Mahassa'

Mercer in the process. The Byrds pinned a 15-6 loss on the Braves.

 

Primary Schools Football league results

George Fay scored twice as the Montessori Magic beat the Ivan Dawson Reds

2-1, in the BVI Football Association Primary Schools Soccer League. Carlos

Gomez scored for the Reds. The Willard Wheatley Wolves clawed the Lenora

Delville Dynamos 5-0. Eugene Penn and Deron Blackman had two goals each,

while Andreas Norford had the other. Cedar school Sharks forfeited to the

Althea Scatliffe Scorpions.

 

Turbulence turns off Raw Power

Oren Hodge had 17 points and eight kills to lead Turbulence to a 25-14,

15-25, 25-20 and 25-22 victory over Raw Power, in BVI Amateur Volleyball

Association action at the Belle Vue Gym. Alston Richardson and Clyde

Potter had 15 points respectively to lead Raw Power. Amadonna Glasgow's 23

points fired Raw Power 2 to a straight set 25-21, 25-9 and 25-18 victory

over Raw Power 2K. Johanny Santana had 13 for Raw Power 2 K. Terminators

pulled out a five set 25-15, 23-25, 25-20, 22-25 and 15-9 victory over

Young Guns. Damien Creque led Terminators with 23 points while Joseph

Davis had a game high 24 for Young Guns. Lynelle Gumbs had 19 points in

Te-Sito's straight set 25-10, 25-11 and 25-18 win over the HLSCC

Stingrays. Agnita Solomon had nine for the Stingrays.

Cycling's Village Cay Highway Challenge Sunday

The Village Cay Highway Challenge on Sunday is the next race of the BVI

Cycling Federation 10th anniversary season. The 7 a.m. race will take

cyclists from the Old Festival Village site, to West End, out to Beef

Island before finishing at the start. Registration convenes at 6:20 a.m.

and costs $5 for BVICF members and $10 for non members. There will be

women and fun/novices courses offered.
