Francis Lettsome revives sports as schools crown their house champions

Francis Lettsome Primary School revived its inter house sports Friday at the Greenland Field, joining schools throughout the territory who last week crowned their respective inter-house champions.

“At one time we had a house system of about the same four houses participating,” noted principal Janice Lettsome. “Some teachers felt that by using the house system, only the fastest children were given the opportunity to run. They decided we needed to do other races besides the flat races to get more children involved. We did that for a while and this year, we decided we would go back to the house system and organized four houses.”

Other schools used the competitions to select their personnel to compete in the March 12-13 Inter Primary Schools Track and Field Championships at the A. O. Shirley Recreation Grounds. Schools in the ‘B’ Division will have their sports on Wednesday starting at 9:15 a.m. followed by the ‘A’ Division schools on Thursday, also at 9:15 a.m.
