Keita Cline 6th in World Championships 200 heat

Sprinter Keita Cline placed sixth in his 200 meter heat at the World Athletics Championships in Paris on Wednesday morning. Cline whose season has been hampered by injury and limited competition, recorded a time of 21.31 seconds to place sixth in his heat, but did not advance to the quarter final rounds. The race ended Cline's 2003 season. He will take a rest before beginning preparations for the 2004 season, with the aim of making the qualifying standard for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. BVI athletes have until June 30, 2004 to record an Olympic qualifying mark and book an automatic trip to the games.

Valencia overhauls Skylarks 4-2 in Virgin Gorda Soccer play

Gregory James had goals in the 40th and 80th minute to lead Valencia to a 4-2 victory over Skylarks to highlight Virgin Gorda Soccer league weekend play. Michael Hagnen added the game's second goal 49 minutes into the game. Denzil Joseph had the fourth goal in the 70th minute. Charles Fredericks and Nicholas Samuel had goals in the 35th and 69th minute for Skylarks. Leo Wallace scored five minutes into the game then Leonard Davis added another in the 28th as Hairoun beat the Guy Boys 2-1. Tyrone Noble had Guy Boys lone goal in the 65th minute. Patrick George received a caution in the second half.
