BVI Football Association Spring League

The BVI Football Association Spring League is in full swing, and the following are the results. HBA Panthers beat the Old Boys 5-0, while the Veterans also blanked the Old Boys 1-0. The Panthers stopped Virgin Programmers 4-2, while Valencia United and Virgin Gorda played to a 2-2 draw. Valencia whipped the Virgin Programmers 6-3, and the HBA Panthers and Veterans played to a 1-1 tie over the weekend, while the Old Boys stopped the HLSCC Stingrays 6-2.

Little League Baseball round up

Rains wiped out all of the BVI Little League Baseball Association's scheduled games Saturday. In games preceding the weekend, scores are as follows: In the Eileene Parsons Girls Softball League, Celine Thomas had a two run fifth inning homer that helped the Parsons Lady Cougars to a come from behind 18-14 victory in their third match up with the Trident Twins. With the victory, the Cougars took a 2-1 edge in their series. In the E. Walwyn Brewley Baseball League, Smith Ferries Mariners sailed to 24-5 and 21-7 victories over the Insinger Athletics and the Banco Popular Depositors. HWR Wildcats clawed the Mariners II 15-2.

Fahie runs personal best in 400 meters at home meet

Quarter miler Kevin Fahie had a season and personal best in the 400 meters Friday, at a home quadrangular meet between Central Arizona College, Mesa Community College, Scottsdale Community College and Gateway Community College. Fahie placed third in 49.4 seconds, then had a 49 seconds third leg carry on the CAC 4 x 400 meter relay 'A' team that won in 3:18.7. Ludence Smith was fifth in the 400 with a time of 51.2 seconds and grabbed eight in the 800 in 2:07.3. He had a 52 seconds anchor leg split on the CAC 'B' 4 x 400 meter relay which finished third in 3:19.7. Discus thrower Eric 'Shaq' Mathias was third in his event following a 48.72 meter throw, 159'10 inch throw. They will compete in today's Mesa Classic at Mesa Community College and tomorrow's Sun Angel Classic at the Arizona State University in Tempe. Meanwhile, Deon Marquis and Adriana Herbert who are red shirting this season at Texas Pan American University, made their 2003 debut in the 100 and 200 meters. Maquis bested Herbert in both sprints with personal best times of 12.63 and 26.85 respectively, finishing third in the 100 and winning the duce. Herbert was fourth in the 100 in 12.68 and second in the 200 in 27.05.
