Barclays Bank employees return to work
On Monday, Barclays Bank’ management announced that, after working with reduced workforce over the last two weeks, the vast majority of staff had returned to work. The Virgin Gorda Branch was closed on Monday, but according to a bank’ spokesperson that empasse was solved during the course of the week.
“Barclays’ management wishes to express gratitude to its customers for their patience and support during the recent disruption to its business in the BVI,” said Charles Pink, Managing Director of Barclays in the Caribbean and Bahamas and incoming CEO of FirstCaribbean International Bank. “In addition, Barclays’ management would like to thank the BVI Government for their assistance and facilitation of our efforts to achieve resolution.”
In a news release the bank stated that “while there remain issues to be resolved between management and staff regarding the formation of FirstCaribbean International Bank, Barclays has made proposals to its staff in response to their claims. The bank is confident that it will be able to reach an amicable solution, and in the meantime the return of the staff earlier this week was viewed as “a very positive step”.
“Barclays once again apologises for the inconvenience caused to customers,” said Mr. Pink, “and assures all customers that it is taking all reasonable steps to resolve these current difficulties.”
