'Ferry Boat Series' set to begin between HLSCC and UVI

BY DEAN GREENAWAY

This weekend heralds the birth of a new series. With no planes, trains nor  cars to catch like their states side counterparts, it's time to jump on  the boat as the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Athletics  Department will inaugurate a "Ferry Boat Series" of inter-island sports  events with the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) with volleyball  matches and basketball games on Friday and Saturday, November 15 and 16,  at the UVI Sports and Fitness Center.

The games are free and open to the public. Women's volleyball matches will  begin each night's action at 7:30 p.m. followed by basketball games  between the UVI Buccaneers men's basketball team and the HLSCC Stingrays  team will follow at 9 p.m. The series is expected to continue next year  with the UVI squads traveling to Tortola. Members from the HLSCC Student Government Association (SGA) will make the  trip to support their squads and have fellowship with their UVI counterparts.

The teams are comprised of the following players and coaches. Volleyball:  Agnita Solomon, Simone Penn, Charleta Millington, Celine Alphonso, Dianne  Sanderson, Lauren Welch, Shevoun Thomas, Vinia Bratwaithe, Rene Hodge,  Juerine George. Coaches; Willis Potter and Kwele Williams.  Basketball: Andre Stoutt, Andy George, Roger Frank, Calvin Smith, Nigel  Williams, Avery Percival, Alston Hanley, Mandinka Crabbe, Lindon Hodge,  Jahmal Rabsatt, Coaches: Morrison Wattley, Robert Richardson.
