Missing
Person found dead
On 20 January at about 2:30pm, Lola
Farrington of Josiah’s Bay reported that while on the “Ham
String Island”, along with her sister Ima Chalwell picking whelks,
they discovered a dead body on the said reef. When police arrived
they found the partly decomposed body of Everton Romney on some
coral south of Beef Island Airport. The body was clothed with a
green short pants and a red and white stripe polo shirt and a watch
on his left wrist. The body was recovered by police and transported
to the Davis Funeral Home.
According to a police report the body appeared to have been in the
water for a long time and was intact. It was suggested that the body
had been deposited there during the high tide. Everton Romney
had been missing since 26 December 2001.
