His
Excellency the Governor conveys BVI condolences
Government House has
announced with great sadness that Her Royal Highness, Princess
Margaret, died peacefully in her sleep at 6:30am on Saturday 9
February 2002 in the King Edward VII Hospital in London.
His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Frank Savage, has ordered all flags
on public building to be flown half mast during the period of Royal
Mourning. A Book of Condolence is open at the Governor’s Office
for members of the public to sign.
H.E. the Governor has
sent the following message to Her Majesty The Queen on behalf of the
People of the British Virgin Islands:
“With Humble Duty.
It is with great sadness
that Her Majesty’s loyal subjects in the British Virgin Islands
learned of the death of Her Royal Highness, Princess Margaret. On
behalf of the Government and People of the British Virgin Islands,
it is my sad duty to send our heartfelt condolences at this time.”
Princess Margaret Countess of Snowdon visited the British Virgin
Islands 7-10 March 1972 when she officially opened the Deep Water
Port at Port Purcell. A set of two special stamps commemorated the
Royal Visit.
