Blyden launches ZVCR to serve BVI Community

The British Virgin Islands publicand that of neighbouring islands is to 
benefit from an additional FM radio station launched on Monday December 9th during a brief ceremony attended by Chief Minister the Hon. Raplh T. 
O'Neal, Deputy Chief Minister Hon. Julian Fraser, Road Town elected 
representative Hon. Mark Vanterpool, high officials and invitees 
representing a cross section of the BVI community.

ZVCR 106.9 FM is being described as "the heart and soul of the Virgin 
Islands", and its general manager and chief executive of Blyden 
Broadcasting Co. Limited, the well-known Niel Blyden told The Island Sun 
that managing and owning a radio station was the dream of his life. With 
experience in radio broadcasting both in the USA and BVI for over 25 years 
Blyden told this newspaper that the BVI market is changing and people need new, innovative and multicultural programming with a wide appeal.
According to Blyden (aka Mr. Melee) his new radio station caters for people 
from 16 to 50 and above with a varied offering of music, talk programmes 
geared towards different lifestyles and talk shows that take on issues but 
in a modern way.

He said that BV Islanders and residents need to be more informed about 
cultural and political life, "A talk show is not only for evening 
programming," Niel Blyden said. He wants the public to know that he is open to suggestions and invites all community members to contact him to share their views and recommendations.

"I want to serve the needs of this community and to respond to their 
suggestions with innovative and popular programming that will make a big 
difference."
