Wedding Bells for Allison & David

Allison Chevaunne Flax and David Da Costa Archer Jr exchanged nuptial vows on Saturday, June 30th, at the Road Town Methodist Church. The beautiful bride is the daughter of former Speaker of the House Keith L. Flax and Rose-marie Chalwell Flax. Parents of the groom are David Da Costa Archer Sr and Janice Stoutt-Glasgow. Matron of Honour was Annjel Xiomara Flax-Solomon, sister of the bride. Best Man was Peter Figueroa and Maid of Honour was Aasha-marie Flax, sister of the bride. Officiating Ministers were Rev. Lloyd Brissett, Rev. Charlesworth Browne, Rev. Bryan Seymour, and Rev. Wycherley Gumbs. Music was provided by organist Celeste David, pianist Margie Webb and the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College Brass and Woodwind Ensembles. A solo rendition was delivered by Robert Chalwell Jr.

An unprecedented profusion of gorgeous floral arrangements almost transformed the look of the church. The bride wore a formal gown that was greatly admired by all invitees. The cathedral length train was also extremely impressive and a conversation favourite. The color theme for the wedding was conservative but immaculately elegant with accents of pink and grey as well as delicate pastel nuances.

The wedding reception for over 250 invitees was held at the Moorings Mariner Inn which had also undergone a mesmerizing transformation. Among the invitees many college friends of the bride and groom who had come to the BVI for the wedding of Allison and David. Other invitees also came from USA, Canada, Panama, and the Caribbean. Mistress of Ceremony was Monica Allen, godmather of the bride, assisted by Rowena Mae Chalwell-Lewis, aunt of the bride.

Former representative for the Second District, Prince Stoutt and Magdaline Rymer were among those offering toasts to the groom. Presenting toasts to the bride were her father, Keith Flax, former Chief Minister Cyril B. Romney and former Attorney General Lewis Hunte. A special toast to both families was brilliantly presented by the BVI Chief Minister Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal.

The bride is a graduate of Jacksonville University where she has earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree (1996), Master of Arts in Teaching with concentration in Music (1998) and a Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Educational Technology (1998). Allison is the owner and main instructor of Scherzo Music Studio and a music teacher at the BVI High School.

The groom is a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management & Human Resource Management in 1997. A Senior Personnel Officer for the BVI Government, David is presently on study leave pursuing a Masters Degree in Human
Resource Management. The completion of his studies is scheduled for December 2001. He is also a director of Luxury Car Rentals and a mentor of the Mentorship Program.
