Teenager arrested for Bomb Scare at High School The Criminal Investigation Department mounted an intense investigation into the two reports relating to the bomb scares at the BVI High School and arrested a16-year-old male of the Cane Garden Bay area. The suspect is a student and was suspended some days earlier from the said High School. According to police sources, the teenager has so far been arrested on a charge of threatening to damage or destroy property, which carries a penalty of ten years on indictment, and publication of false statement likely to cause fear and alarm to the public, which carries a penalty of one year imprisonment or $1,000 fine or both on summary conviction. Commissioner of Police Vernon E. Malone told the press that he is determined to prosecute all persons found responsible for these mindless acts. At the recent sitting of the Legislative Council, Minister for Education Hon. Andrew Fahie expressed his deep concern for the bomb threats and noted that we must stop this insanity in the best interest of our students, teachers, principals, parents and our community as a whole. |
