New Library for Anegada

Anegadians can look forward to the return of library service to the island this Friday as the new public library opens its doors at the Bellanseta Creque Building in The Settlement. Several dignitaries, including Chief Minister and representative for the Ninth District the Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal and Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Health Education and Welfare the Honourable Eileene Parsons are expected to attend the opening ceremony at 10am. The Library Services Department began operations on Anegada during the 1960s in the Anegada Primary School. In 1975 the Anegada Community Library was opened at the Emile E. Dunlop Community Centre and continued there for over twenty years. In 1998 the library temporarily closed its doors because the community centre was closed. Ag. Chief Librarian Suzanne Greenaway is encouraging Anegada residents to come out and participate in the opening ceremony.
