TO BERMUDA, LONDON. MIAMI

A delegation of BVI health officials headed by Deputy Chief Minister Hon. Eileene L. Parsons left here earlier this week for a ten-day fact-finding mission to Bermuda, London, and Miami. Ms. Parsons who is the BVI’s Minister for Health, Education & Welfare, will meet with counterparts and high officials as well as personnel to investigate best practices in hospitals and health-care. Other important areas include financing, governance and management issues relating to hospitals. The BVI delegation is expected to hold discussions to gather information to establish protocols and attaining international standards for the new Peebles Hospital in Road Town. This was disclosed by Chief mister O’Neal earlier this week at a press conference. Mr. O’Neal noted that the final draft of the BVI Health Care Strategy has been submitted by the United Kingdom’s firm Hornagold & Hills. He further disclosed that Dallas-based architectural firm Page-Sutherland-Page has been selected to design the new Peebles Hospital facility. This newspaper has learned that Page-Sutherland-Page has signed a $795,000 contract with the BVI government. The BVI delegation is expected to complete the overseas mission by 9 March. Shortly after, Hon. Parsons will issue an update.
